Growing Biodynamically

162

At Sun Dog Farm we utilize Biodynamic growing methods to nurture our crops.  The concept of Biodynamic farming is based on the holistic management of natural forces that work together to produce the food we grow.  It is the goal of the farmer when using these methods to reduce outside inputs on the farm and to close sustainability loops as much as possible.  It is the belief of many modern day farmers that farming can be limited all the way down to managing your soils for Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium also known as NPK.  In Biodynamics, a special consideration is made for not only NPK, but also all other elemental nutrients required of the plants and livestock and how these nutrients work together to maintain the integrity of the products we sell.

Beyond the soil science, Biodynamics evaluates the balancing forces of the atmosphere, energy fields, and cosmos to ensure that the farmer is working with all the tools at hand to restore the quality of the soil and ensure the quality of the crops.  Biodynamic growers have a strict view of farming that does not allow for any chemical or synthetic fertilizers, no chemical herbicides or pesticides, and relies on the natural world and localized inputs for food that is safe, nutrient dense, and tastes delicious.
